Customer question:
Hi thanks for the prompt mailing of the Red Dragon.
I am having trouble with the power of the flame.Having connected the needle valve and hose and flitted it to a newly filled 9Kg. cylinder (from Bunnings) I lit the burner. The flame burned with a soft yellow flame which did not effect the weeds at all.The cylinder was on a 2 wheel trolley and when I tilted it and the cylinder was on an angle the burner burned correctly, however after about 5 or 10 minutes the gas flow was restricted as the hose was very cold ( perhaps frozen). Can you please advise me on a solution.
Regards T.
Our answer:
Hi T.,
What will be happening is that the excess flow valve (that is located in the POL fitting at the regulator) is shutting.
This happens when the valve is turned on and the rush of gas slams the excess flow valve shut.
They are not 100% positive shut off. It is designed this way so the pressure can equalise and the excess flow valve can re-open. This is why you have a small yellow flame (gas can still pass through the valve).
If you wait long enough the pressure will equalise or close the cylinder valve, wait a while and open the valve slowly and this should fix the problem.
